RE: RARA-AVIS: LeBlanc's Lupin: Levin (was: CF History ?)

Lupin's grandson is the star of a long-running Japanese manga/comic called Lupin III, by Kato Kazuhiko (a.k.a. Monkey Punch). Kato's Lupin is a hard-boiled thief and master of disguise who constantly matches wits with Zenigata, a police detective. Kato's drawing style (especially his earlier works) is quite reminiscent of Sergio Aragones. The manga has a definite noir feel, although it's hardly realistic; these stories are full of secret weapons and impossible feats. An American publisher, TokyoPop, has started to translate the first series into English: http://www.tokyopop.com/dbpage.php?propertycode=LUP&categorycode=BMG

Apparently, it's no accident your correspondent came across Lupin stories...particularly popular in translation (China as a whole not having much love for the UK as well?)...TM
