A faithful but unsatisfying movie version of Jim Thompson's
fierce novella, 'This World, Then the Fireworks' is on the
Starz Mystery Channel tonight (9:30 EST).
BTW. I ended up buyying the newly released DVD 'Coup de
torchon'
(adaptation of Pop. 1280). The alternative ending that
Bertrand Tavernier wanted to use was bizarre to say the
least. Fortunately he ran out of money and couldn't film it
to his satisfaction. The ending he was forced to go with
(IMHO) is much, much better.
