RARA-AVIS: Proletariat and subtle nuances

Thanks to everybody for the help on hardboiled Proletariat. Wormser sounds familiar but I can't place him. I'll have to check out ALL'S FAIR. And whether Orwell's DOWN AND OUT book is Proletariat or not, I'd like to read it along with some of the hobo lit writers.
I've just about finished 42ND PARALLEL and I have to admit it's killing me. Most of the characters are interesting and a couple are even colorful, but all they do is talk. To hell with subtle nuances. I want somebody to whip out a gun and kill somebody.

I wonder if I've been reading too much hardboiled. ;-)
