Jim, I haven't read SECOND ENDING, but if it's that inspirational I'll have to track down a copy. I think you'll like GUNS, particularly. It reads like an Elmore Leonard/Jim Thompson collaboration. And that's some collaboration. Now, if only I can find someone who writes like Lawrence Block/David Goodis...
