Belatedly, I'll mention the (perhaps medium-boiled) criminous Donald Westlake fantasy, "Nackles." Which almost begs a mention of Harlan Ellison's James Bond lampoon, "Santa Claus vs. S.P.I.D.E.R.", with which we may be moving away from HB...but if that gets us past Edward Wellen's goofy "Sanity Clause," all the better. -----Original Message----- From: MatCoward@aol.com I always think of Christmas as the most hardboiled time of the year, when all those Lew Archer-type tensions reach critical mass. Can anyone think of any classic (or just very good) crime stories set at this season?
