Steve read or is reading: RED HARVEST - Dashiell Hammett THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE - James M. Cain THEY SHOOT HORSES DON'T THEY - Horace McCoy HEADED FOR A HEARSE - Jonathan Latimer THE BLACK MASK BOYS - anthology - William F. Nolan, CRIME NOVELS - AMERICAN NOIR OF THE 1930's and 40's DOWN AND OUT IN PARIS AND LONDON, by George Orwell

*********** Great choices! And thanks for your comments on the Orwell book. I noticed you read some other essays of his. Did you read the ones that he wrote based on his Burma (?) experiences, like the one about shooting an elephant? I think I read that a long time ago and I'd like to read it again.

I'm interested in what you think about the books in the 30's and 40's Crime collection.
