******** Thanks, Mark. I've read a little about it but it's good to hear a personal recommendation. I got the idea that the story might evolve around a real event where several Jews were murdered. Total rumor beyond that is that Greene was involved in the real event. I believe his biographer Sheldon implied it.

Just yesterday I finished THIS GUN FOR HIRE. It seemed to more closely fit the hardboiled/noir tag. I enjoyed it more, too. Promise not to tell Al that I read more than two by the same author.
