In the late twenties, when adding sound became technically simple. Sound film spread very rapidly.

The boom of the mass market for film was in the early teens, though there were film showings long before that.

Miker, you really need to go back before 1930. You are missing some of the greatest films of all time.

On Little Caesar: the movie is better than the book. Robinson is a magnet. Without such a master actor, it wouldn't be half as good.
