RARA-AVIS: THIS WORLD...: Taboada

Isn't that the one in Gorman's SECOND BLACK LIZARD ANTHOLOGY OF CRIME FICTION? Rather liked it, if so (the novel, that is; the film way too much a Billy Zane vanity project, too timid in dealing with Thompson's usual themes). TM

John Lau comments on the stunning color cinematography of Thompson's _This world, then..._. That's by Bill Pope, a master photographer. The movie is so-so, but the photography is art. Come to think of it, the Thompson novel is pretty bad. Let's not blame the screenwriter.
