This is one of my absolute favorite McGees. The real
estate-swindle plot is nicely handled and shows off JDM's
extensive knowledge about such things; for once McGee rescues
a man, not a woman, a nice switch; McGee himself has some of
his best musings on life and what it all means; and it has my
absolute favorite McGee villian, really the paradigmatic
example of JDM's
"throwbacks", Boone (or 'Boo') Waxwell.
