Hamilton's concentration and pacing are remarkable, as is his
objectivity in telling a story. I have _Murderers' Row_ lined
up for reading. But first I have to finish Aarons's
Assignment: Burma Girl. It's so good I don't want it to end.
I see a Buchan-Ambler-Aarons line, faint but real.
My Gold Medal reading got interrupted by several manuscripts
and, notably, by Dave Zeltserman's postnoir chiller _In His
Shadow_ (review forthcoming), as different stylistically from
Aarons & Hamilton as it's possible to be.
And after all the talk about Gil Brewer, I will have to pay
my dues to this eccentric, uneven and often brilliant
goldmedalist.
Regards,
MrT
