'hero' shouldn't be seen as a development or sub-type of the
tragic hero in the Greek tradition: noble but also flawed. It
explains a lot of Rebus pints!
Greek warrior homosexuality (or more like bisexuality) is
another topic; to keep it basic, this shouldn't be thought of
as a character flaw.
