great link, bill. he's got a short essay on a lot of hardboiled authors that i've read or heard about. i don't know why, but i have to scroll way to the right to read the web page using IE6.

one of the things i found interesting was that i thought hammett wrote five novels: DAIN CURSE, GLASS KEY, RED HARVEST, THIN MAN, and MALTESE FALCON. now i see another one mentioned, BLOOD MONEY, aka BIG KNOCKOVER. don't know why that one escaped me for so long.
