I agree. I also think Woolrich can be a bit woolly. But I think both Woolly and Goody are important enough in the history of noir fiction to have their works remain in print. Anyway, "inferior work" has a bad press, as I keep telling my more literary friends who are always asking me what rubbish I'm reading at the moment.
