STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, if you haven't seen that one; the other Ripley novels might do? Always have liked her short stories enormously. ("Always" as in most of my literate life.) TM

on highsmith, aside from _the talented mr. ripley_, what is a really good novel of hers that is still in print? i need to read her but i think i'd like to start with something i haven't seen the movie adaptation to.
