RARA-AVIS: Tough Guy Writers of the Thirties

More than 30 years ago, I read and re-read the essays in this book, edited by David Madden. I decided not long ago that I needed to have it around, so I bought a copy. The essays hold up very well, and titles like "Hemingway and his Hard-boiled Children" would probably create some discussion on this list. As would R. V. Cassill's article on Jim Thompson. I highly recommend this one.
