Carrie, like yourself I've been meaning to read Estleman for
some time. Finally, I got round to reading _Sugartown_ (Amos
Walker series). Wish I'd read it sooner. The plot's not
hugely gripping, the characters are interesting enough, but
what stands out is the quality of the writing. I re-read
entire paragraphs just because they were so elegantly
written. No doubt I'll be reading much more Estleman in the
future.
As for reading a series in order. Tried it. Can't do it.
Probably given up on a few good authors as well by reading
some of their early, not-so-good stuff.
