Some of this month's hard-boiled scripts from hard-boiled books:

Title: Charles Willeford Book Series Centers on a gritty and comically grotesque South Florida crime and a Miami police detective, Hoke Moseley. Writer Curtis Hanson , who purchased the film rights to a series of novels by cult crime writer Charles Willeford. Hanson will produce with partner Carol Fenelon. Story not yet set up at a studio.

Title: The Killer Inside Me Set in a small Texas town, a local sheriff's deputy hides the fact that he has a psychopathic streak. Writer: Andrew Dominik and Robert Weinbach Agent: Endeavor (Dominik) Buyer: Muse Productions Adaptation of the 1952 pulp fiction classic by Jim Thompson. Dominic Sena will direct. Weinbach will produce along with Chris Hanley, Bradford Schlei of Stone Canyon Entertainment and Fernando Sulichin. Jean Labadie will Executive Produce.

Title: The Ladykillers Log Line: In the South, an eccentric matron unwittingly rents out rooms in her house to a gang of professional thieves. They plan to use the innocent address as a hideout while they plot a big-ticket heist, but they ultimately discover they're no match for the shrewd woman. Writer: Joel and Ethan Coen More: Remake of the 1955 British film. Tom Jacobson and Barry Sonnenfeld to produce. Project originally set up in 1995. Coens to also direct.

Title: Chaos A young grifter kidnaps the wife of a wealthy businessman but when the grifter leaves to collect on his ransom, the woman somehow dies. Remake of the 1999 Hideo Nakata-directed Japanese film "Kaosu." Tribeca and Laura Bickford Productions to produce. No writer or director is attached as yet. Robert De Niro will produce, and possible play a supporting role. Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and Doug Davison will Executive Produce.

Title: Untitled Matt Helm Series Log Line: Series that centers on the life and spy missions of Helm, a former Army lieutenant. Writer: Blake Masters Agent: Brant Rose Agency Buyer: DreamWorks Pictures Team Todd is on board to produce. Robert Luketic signed on to direct the first movie in the series. The film will be based on the series of Matt Helm action novels, written by Donald Hamilton, that the studio optioned in January.

Also enroute: Hawaii Five-O, Ocean's Twelve (sequel to "Ocean's Eleven" ), The Thomas Crown Affair sequel, American Pie 3, Blade 3 , Analyze That
(sequel to "Analyze This"), Seriously Dude, Where's My Car?, Alfie (a remake of the 1966 film), Miss Congeniality 2, and Spiderman 2.
