The series was called "Overload", and there are twelve books in it. I have about half of them but have never read any of them, don't know if they're hardboiled or not. The books were marketed as men's adventure, but they could still be HB. As far as I know, Bob Ham is the author's real name, or at least, he's not anybody else we might have heard of.
