I think Roger L Simon's Jewish Hippie turned LA detective deserves a nomination. He was in a series that began with The Big Fix (Played by Richard Dreyfus in the movie.), as does Marvin H Albert's Tony Rome. He first appeared in Miami Mayhem.( Played by Frank Sinatra on film.) When the book was first published Tony Rome was supposedly the author. Mark
