hi everybody,

thought i'd bring up laurell hamilton's name as a good hardboiled author. her anita blake series has got werewolves and vampires in it, but anita is still as hardboiled as any detective you will find anywhere.

although there are some things i don't really care for in the books, they are witty and fun and violent and gory. i've read all the anita blake series that are in paperback.

quote from _obsidian butterfly_, after a boy has unloaded a firestar into a bad guy:

"i tried to hug him, but he pushed away, then walked away. the time for that kind of comfort was past, but there were other kinds of comfort. some of them came from the barrel of a gun."

love it.
