RARA-AVIS: book/movie

From: abc@wt.net

Legend has it that Howard Hawks bragged to Hemingway that he could make a good movie out of Hemingway's worst book. Hemingway told him to give it a try with To Have and Have Not. Hawks made the movie, but it doesn't really have much to do with the book. William Faulkner worked on the screenplay.
