"George seems pretty transparent to me, his references meant
to reveal something about his characters, not himself."
I realized that my use of the word "transparent" might
possibly be taken as my saying George is too blatant in his
writing. That is not what I meant, so let me be clear, or
transparent: I was trying to say that George does not impose
his personality and taste on his characters (or at least
hides it well), but lets them speak and act for
themselves.
