Spillane mixed first and third person narration in "The Erection Set" but it didn't work very well. When I came across it, it was jarring, confusing. The only writing I've seen make it work well is Clay Harvey's 1997 novel "A Flash of Red", which, if you haven't read it, is well worth your time.
