i've only read the burnt orange heresy, and even with some
slow spots, i thought it was an excellent book, transcending
the normal hardboiled kick-butt-take-names plot with a sharp
satire on art and an existential flavor.
i wonder how long ago you read willeford. i'm having trouble
finding much by him in print. i might try the library, but i
hate going that route. i like to take whatever time i want
reading a book.

A masterpiece of dark, silent humour. This assured me of
Willeford's mastership.
