Well said, Dick. It made me realize one of the reasons I
prefer Hammett and Chandler's characterization to Parker's,
there's space to fill in the blanks. This leads to more
involvement on my part. And it leads to more identification
on my part, as I can meld Marlowe and myself without all
sorts of personal quirks getting in the way.
