That's a very gracious statement--I want more professors like you.

Having tutored undergrad writers for the past several years, I would have identified the major problem as inflating the text in order to meet the minimum page number requirement given by the instructor. First, increase the margins. Second, increase the font size.
 Third, switch from Times New Roman to Courier New. Fourth, go back through the paper and see where you can add "the fact that" or other equally useful phrases.

But maybe I'm just a cynic.
