That tenent is exactly why I'm as interested in noir fiction
and film as I am in author Clark Ashton Smith's writing.
Regardless of the trials and tribulations of the main
'sufferer', they are ultimately doomed, no matter the
desire(or lack of) to break out. Ain't that the human
condition?
