Excellent point! That's what I did this year - sent my protag
into an Agatha Christie country village; it took her days to
find out the extent of the drugs trade. A way not just of
testing the detective, but of exploring a new kind of reality
and of playing with the reader's preconceptions too. ( Of
course she wasn't entirely without allies, thanks to her
continuing total dependence on her cell phone...)
