I'm sure you will get a hundred responses. The film was "The
Manchurian Cadidate". A squad of soldiers was captured in
Korea and brainwashed to report that one of them had been
very heroic. He was awarded the Medal of Honor and when he
was activated, was told to assasinate a presidential
candidate. It was pretty good, especially at the first,
although I thought it got more conventional as it went along.
Directed by John Frankenheimer, if I remember right.
