I liked BIG HEAT very much, though it was pitched at an
operatic tone a lot of the time -- sometimes McGivern's
characters seemed to be operating just on this side of
hysteria. I agree with you on ROGUE COP, which I couldn't
finish. The only other McGivern I've read is ODDS AGAINST
TOMORROW, which is my favorite of his books.
