Have you seen the audiobook collection, "Proving It"? 27
shorts by Vachss recorded by Burt Reynolds (think Sharkey's
Machine, NOT Smokey & the Bandit). I'm most of the way
through it now, and gotta say I'm impressed. I think Vachss
is better sometimes in short form, and this collection seems
to bring out the things I like.
I got the thing at Amazon, but I think Vachss' website has

... and to add to the comics thread, I liked "Cross" too, but
the artwork inside (the Geof Darrow covers were amazing)
sucked.
