>(With apologies to Larry Block, who said there are
only two types of
>mysteries: Those with a cat and those without a
cat.)
Rendered hysterical not only by our heat wave, but by the
contents lists of the last 3 or 4 digests (this is a
_catering_ mysteries list???? Can anybody tell me about
Jerrilyn Farmer's books?) I am forced to point out that there
is something inherently hardboiled about cats. Is that what
Block meant? They go armed. They prowl the mean streets. Many
are noir. I mean, my last Burmese wandered an area of about 9
square miles around my north London house, killing police
horses.
Yours confusedly,
Marianne
