Thomas is one of my favorite writers in the genre -- I've
read most (not quite all) of what's he written, and he's
never disappointed me. I always get the feeling, reading him,
that this was a guy who *knew* how the world worked. I always
feel just a bit smarter, afterwards.
Everything he did is worth a look, but I particularly like
THE FOOLS IN TOWN ARE ON OUR SIDE, THE PORKCHOPPERS,
CHINAMAN'S CHANCE, and THE BRASS GO-BETWEEN. Thomas is also
that great rarity, a writer whose books didn't go downhill as
he aged. TWILIGHT AT MAC'S PLACE and VOODOO LTD. are both
quite fine.
