I didn't watch it willingly, but I happened to see an old
episode of the Alan Thicke show "Growing Pains" on TV
tonight. The older son was trying to avoid writing a book
report and his parents were stern. The book: THE LONG
GOODBYE. The smart sister discussed Chandler's use of
metaphor and his trenchant social insight for a minute or so.
The old mass-market sized Vintage edition of the book was
seen once.
