Mike Ashley posted this note to the PulpMags list. Since it
has a subject that's on-topic for the Rara-Avis list, and
Eddie Bunker comes up for discussion here semi-regularly, I
offered to repost it on R-A in the hopes that someone might
have some solid info for Mike:

Can anyone help me with this?
I've been checking out the autobiog of Eddie Bunker (Mr Blue
of Reservoir Dogs) who was for years a prison inmate until he
met success as a writer. He says that the moment of truth
came for him when the notorious Caryl Chessman, who was on
Death Row as the Red Light Bandit, sent Eddie a copy of
ARGOSY which had excerpted the first chapter of Chessman's
book CELL 2455, DEATH ROW. Chessman's book was published in
early 1955 (I think it has a 1954 copyright though), so the
question is, which issue of ARGOSY was this? Presumably some
time around late 1954/early 1955. Does anyone have that
particular issue? It was reading that that made Eddie Bunker
realise he could try and become an author.

Feel free to mail Mike directly as well as post here to the
list. I'm not familiar with CHessman's book. Anyone here read
it?
