You may not have known this but James Cain's The Postman Always Rings Twice is based upon Cain's visit to gas station in . . . Glendale, where the gas jockey was a buxom redhead. Cain's lascivious thoughts created the wild cat Cora. But then Cain was upper class Catholic, and his dirty thoughts were slumming in Glendale.
