You will have seen Ms. Mege's (sorry, I can't get a grave
accent in there) mention of COLD CALLER, and the two other
Jason Starr books would do too. I was thinking of Mr.
Pelecanos's THE SWEET FOREVER, too, and his other books would
also do. The topic came up when we read Westlake/Stark's THE
MAN WITH THE GETAWAY FACE (see the November 1999 archives).
What about Spade in THE MALTESE FALCON? Those are the ones I
had in mind as the start of a list, but surely people can
think of more. It's almost April!
