I've just started reading it and so far the cold six thousand simply refers to a payment to a corrupt cop for a hit in Dallas at the same time as the JFK killing. As for the book itself the early stages at least are a bit of a struggle. Lots of. Very short. Sentences. etc. Rash to prejudge though and will report later on whole thing.
