That's another excellent, and shocking, passage. Troy Louden, who's made it perfectly clear he's a criminal psychopath, is nevertheless friendly
(in an odd way) and solicitous about the others. He arranges the hold-up and makes sure everyone knows what to do, where to go, and they all think he wants to make it as easy on them as possible, with no violence. Then, as soon as it begins, he starts killing with sawed-off shotgun and the reader realizes he was conned by the sweet-talk, just like the others.
