Not very, in my opinion, although Hiney's journalist friends
reviewed it well. Lots of conjecture wrapped up as fact, not
much new that I can see
(certainly nothing of note about the almost unknown early
life), and quite a few actual errors. MacShane's may be dry
and it has its faults, but I rate it higher.
