All the ones I've read have been equally enjoyable, but they were all from the '50s or early '60s. I don't have a biblio of Prather's books so I don't know when he stopped. Was there a decline as he went on? Aha, Kevin Smith has a list up:

Looks like he wrote steadily through the '50s and '60s, then did a couple in the '70s and two in the '80s. I didn't know that. What's the general opinion on the later books? Is Prather still alive?
