RARA-AVIS: Stark and stuff

I had to go to about 4 stores but finally found Flashfire at a local Borders. Has anyone read Garry Disher? He's an Australian writer whom Westlake recommends to those who like the Parker books. Pretty clean, tight, hard-boiled books with a lead character thief named Wyatt. Michael Stone's books are pretty good, though I personally felt the second and third books never lived up to the first one. Since I am constantly catching up on digests these days and may have missed something, I apologize if this has already come up, but I picked up a poster at the local book trade show for a book called Death on the Cheap by Arthur Lyons. Subtitled The Lost B Movies of Film Noir, with a foreword by Gerald Petrievich. I'm presuming this is the Arthur Lyons who wrote the Jacob Asch mysteries and who we discussed quite a bit at one point last year. It's out this month, but I haven't seen it anywhere. Anyone seen or read it and care to weigh in with an opinion?

Martha
