1955 is the right date for the movie, Scott, it was released
in March. The book came out the year before, in August, went
through two printings and was serialized in the Ladies Home
Journal. It was published in paper in February, 1955. I have
the second paperback printing from April, which featured an
inside page blurb by Anne Francis, plugging the movie.
