I guess few would have remembered "Mute Witness" by Robert L.
Pike, had it not been adapted as "Bullitt".
Something I find quite disappointing is that despite the box
office success of "Dead Calm" and two other adaptions
("Finally Sunday" and "The Hot Spot") that at least did not
totally bomb, Charles Williams still remains out of
print.
