We've had a lot of really quite sickening "celebration of the
life of" the Krays in the UK recently, especially in the
tabloids. They and "Mad" Frankie Fraser have been trying hard
to build themselves up as lovable old rogues who only ever
hurt other gangsters and were just doing their job. They've
even been claiming there was less crime when their gang was
in charge, a claim almost as spurious as the paramilitarys'
claims to be policing drug use in Northern Ireland. Reggie
Kray, by the way, claimed to have invented the "Cigarette
Punch". Reggie offered his opponent a cigarette, and then
when he was holding it in his mouth Reggie threw the punch
instead of holding up a match. With the mouth slightly open,
it's easier to break the jaw, apparently.
