If you think about it, this happens a lot in detective fiction. Sherlock Holmes lives in the city and often (not always) has to travel to the country. Marlowe is based in LA, but all of his cases involve a trip beyond its limits; to the mountains, to Esmeralda, to Bay City, to the end of one or other of the half-inhabited canyons. These are not always voluntary trips you understand, not to be compared with an Iowa picnic.
