I think Bunker's disposition is generally pretty disgruntled
from what I've heard so I'm not at all surprised he might
feel that way toward Buscemi. Willem Defoe is believable
enough in the role and Bunker is all over the place in the
background. Edward Furlong was a little tough to buy at first
but his acting is generally strong enough to transcend the
limitations his visage initially congers. Read the book well
over 5 or 6 years ago so from the best I could remember the
film seemed to remain pretty faithful to the source material
(and Bunker di co-author the screenplay). Can't remember the
hispanic character actor's name (butt-ugly guy who's in
everything: Dusk to Dawn; Heat, etc) but he had a
co-production credit for the film and is always imensely
believable. Being a former con does of course give him the
proper "pedigree." Was the movie fantastic? No. Was it a
worthy entertainment? Definitely. A welcome surprise on a
Sunday evening...not worth complaining about. I was
greatful.
Wondering...can someone explain why it is Bunker's more well
known on British soil? I read his latest memoir and was
substantially underwhelmed. Kind of a let down, really,
seeing as how worthy his fiction is.
