RARA-AVIS: A question for Callan fans

Hi,

I got some e-mail today from a woman with a question about the Callan books:

| My 82-year-old mother read 4 Callan novels written by James Mitchell
| in Britain in the early 70s: Callan, Russian Roulette, Death and
| Bright Water and Smear Job. She remembers Callan's colleague, Meres,
| committing suicide because of some contribution to the death of a
| child. I don't think that's in those four books.

Does anyone know which book it's in?

Bill
