Re: RARA-AVIS: Jon Jackson

Date: 12 May 2000

If anyone writes with as much understanding of the importance and value of rhythm and melody in hard boiled prose as Jon Jackson, I don't know who it is. The man sets a fine beat and holds it. I don't know what he learned from Ray Carver, but Carver could have used some of Jackson's ability to sympathize with and get close to his characters while maintaining a distance.
